Brian Robards is honest, fair, and transparent. He has fantastic sub-contractor relationships that he has nurtured over the years. They all speak highly of him. His sub-contractors often told me, “You are lucky to have him” and they were right.

Building a house is an enormous undertaking, a project like no other, where you may explore your own creativity and ability to create your own very individual home or, if you’d rather leave the creative details to your builder. With either option you need a builder that IS creative. Brian Robards is truly that person. Brian collaborated seamlessly with our architects, both in structural aspects and creative aesthetics.
Neither my husband nor I tend to relinquish design control, which is why we found it particularly amazing that we constantly looked to Brian for his input and, quite honestly, the final word on decisions. Additionally, Brian was eager to incorporate our ideas such as making windows larger or even adding windows where there had been none. We
were a team and Brian’s pride and excitement about every little detail was simply a joy. His ability to imagine a house as it sits on the site, the light that will come through windows and the views from within, is impeccable. For our project he created a staircase that became a central functioning piece of art. The blueprints created by our architects were stunning but our home would not be what it is without Brian’s creativity and ability to imagine.
My husband and I had the slight misfortune of building a house during Covid, which meant there were added stressors with our particular project. But Brian is a master of soothing frazzled, nervous clients. It’s inconceivable to us how stressful our project must have been for Brian, however, his stress never trickled down to us. Throughout extreme challenges of the broken supply chain, Brian just kept pivoting in order to keep our construction moving forward. The team of tradesmen Brian orchestrated moved seamlessly with him, throughout the rather extraordinary circumstances.

I had talked to several builders before meeting Brian Robards of Brian Robards Custom Homes. I had my first meeting with Brian and he was the most informative and knowledgeable builder that I spoke with. Brian Robards and his teams are very focused on details and doing things right both from function and aesthetics. Not only is Brian a great craftsman himself, but he has really great ideas. We redid our entire first floor including kitchen, powder room and mudroom. Although we worked with an architect for the big picture and a kitchen designer for details, we found Brian often was the one who came up with solutions to the problems that stumped the rest of us.
Brian always took the time to meet with us to go over our selections, never rushed us and always explained why things had to be done in a certain way. If he thought we were making a bad choice, he took the time to discuss with us our options and make sure we were making the decision that was truly best for us and our needs. Now that the project is done, we can see he was right every time. If he felt things hadn’t been done right, they got fixed with no hassle to us.
